Swayamkrushi, India is managed by a renowned special educator and capable administrator, Mrs. Manjula Kalyan. Manjula Kalyan has won many awards for her groundbreaking work. More recently in recognition of her dedication toward the education and rehabilitation of the mentally and physically challenged, she was honored with a special award by the president of India,  Dr. Abdul Kalam.

 

Manjula Kalyan’s organization has introduced and perfected an innovative method to rehabilitate the mentally and physically challenged children and adults. According to this method, the children and adults are placed in Group Homes under the supervision of resident staff members who are trained to handle issues related to daily life including  judgment, problem solving, money matters and personal hygiene. The goal of the program is to rehabilitate these challenged individuals such that they are able to return to their own homes and become gainfully employed. Swayamkrushi, India also conducts several programs like vocational training, customized treatment based on individual needs for these children and adults, and cultural and sports events. SK Foundation funds Swayamkrushi, India to cover partial costs of some of the current programs, the construction of new facilities to expand service offerings, or to provide for the needs of children based on the wishes of donors.

Swayamkrushi (means 'self-reliance' in Sanskrit)  is located in the city of Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
